Put Your Best Face Forward

Injectables

Our injectable treatments offer stellar results for both men and women who are interested in achieving a younger look. The procedure is minimally invasive and involves little discomfort. It also has no downtime.

Neuromodulators are injected under the skin using a very fine needle, where they effectively relax facial muscles that lead to the formation of dynamic wrinkles. Facial expressions are preserved while the skin appears noticeably smoother and younger-looking.

Botox

Experience for yourself our tried-and-true wrinkle smoother! At JPO Aesthetics, our Botox procedure contains trace amounts of botulinum that will temporarily paralyze facial muscles. Botox is commonly used for horizontal forehead lines, frown lines (lines between the eyebrows), and crow’s feet that appear in the outer corners of the eyes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Before I See Results?

Occasionally, with active musculature, mild results can be seen immediately! However, the more usual onset of action is within 3 to 4 days with up to 2 weeks for maturation of effect.

How Long Will It Last?

Typical duration of action is 3 to 4 months. However, with repeated use, it can sometimes stretch out injections to every

6 to 9 months.

Is Foreign, Counterfeit, or “Fake” Botox a Real Issue?

The US FDA has the strictest guidelines for producing, manufacturing, and promoting safety in the world. Unlicensed sources are rampant. Not only can the drug be ineffectual due to improper storage, but maybe unsafe.

A warning to practices from the FDA as recent as spring 2013: Purchases from such suppliers “may be misbranded, adulterated, counterfeit, contaminated, improperly stored and transported, ineffective, and/or unsafe. Medical practices that purchase and administer illegal and unapproved medications from foreign sources are putting patients’ health at risk, as patients may not be getting proper treatment.”

Dysport

Dysport is another botulinum-based formula that was approved by the FDA for the treatment of facial wrinkles in 2009. Based on studies, this procedure works more quickly and can last longer than its forerunner Botox. Dysport is commonly used for forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, and lipstick lines (vertical lines that appear above the lip line).

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the Main Difference Between Dysport and Botox?

Dysport lacks several binding proteins compared to Botox. As such, it may be of consideration if people have had a lessened response with Botox over time and maybe better for areas where more spread or surface area is desired such as periorbital crow’s feet or forehead.

Any Special Concerns With Dysport?

The product contains “albumin”, a cow’s milk protein, so those with an allergy (albeit very rare) should not consider Dysport. This does not mean lactose intolerance in which case the product is not contraindicated – meaning it is safe to use.

Xeomin

Xeomin is the latest option in neuromodulators. It was recently approved as a wrinkle treatment by the FDA after proving its effectiveness in treating cervical dystonia and blepharospasm (uncontrolled eye twitching). This formula has been proven effective for some patients that do not respond as well as they’d like to Botox injections due to slight modifications in the formulation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Is Xeomin Different From Botox?

Xeomin contains no binding proteins. It is pure botulinum toxin with similar dosing and duration of action. The theoretical advantage is less antibody formation and thus perhaps less resistance to the product. Another advantage for practitioners is no need for refrigeration.

On the other hand, Botox has a much longer track record of safety in trained practitioner hands.

How Long Has It Been Around?

Although it was just recently approved by the FDA, Xeomin has been used in Europe since 2008.

Injectable treatments take just a few minutes to complete and patients may return to their regular activities immediately following the procedure. Results become apparent within the first week or two after receiving the injections and may last 3 months or more.

Dermal Fillers

Get rid of fine lines and facial creases with our dermal fillers! This procedure can also be used to restore volume to areas of the face, like the cheeks and jawline, for a smoother and more youthful facial profile.

Please note that our physician can customize your treatment according to your specific concern and desired outcome.

Juvederm

This hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler consists of a smooth gel that effectively minimizes the appearance of wrinkles for up to 12 months. Specific areas targeted by Juvederm include:

            • Marionette Lines
  • Smile Lines
  • Lip Lines

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Consider Getting a Derma Filler?

Hyaluronic acids (HA) are perhaps the most abundant substance found naturally in our skin. It binds and attracts water, volumizing tissues. Unfortunately, we start to lose this beginning in our 20’s due to UV rays and other environmental stressors. Combined with Botox-type products, we can achieve synergy or superior multiplied effects.

What Are the Advantages?

While smooth, Juvederm XC (for extra comfort) is highly cross-linked lending to a longer duration of action and

anesthesia during injection.

Are There Any Special Concerns?

Patients can experience common side effects such as swelling, redness, pain/tenderness, bruising, and discoloration. These effects are mild to moderate and usually last less than 7 days.

Please note that allergy testing is not required as this is biocompatible. And just like other skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.

Voluma

This is an FDA-approved procedure that is designed to restore volume to the mid-face for a more defined cheek link. This relatively new dermal filler can last up to 2 years before a touch-up treatment is required. Clinical studies have shown this filler can last up to 2 years before a touch-up treatment is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Makes Voluma Different?

From the Juvederm family of fillers, Voluma is the first and only filler that is approved by the FDA. It instantly adds volume to the areas of your cheeks such as apex, apple, and hollow. In addition, it will give you a subtle lift and help you restore contour for a more youthful profile. This procedure is available for patients aged 21 years old and up.

Sculptra

Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid, which produces subtle results over a period of time. This filler is usually administered in a series of three or four sessions, replacing lost collagen for a smoother, younger look. Results of Sculptra may last more than 2 years for some patients. It is primarily used in the following areas:

          • Nasolabial Folds – creases that appear from the nose to the corner of the mouth
          • Marionette Lines – lines that run from the corners of the mouth to the chin
          • Chin Lines – vertical lines that appear on the chin below the lower lip

Frequently Asked Questions

How Is Sculptra Different in Action?

As opposed to traditional fillers which have an immediate effect, Sculptra acts by stimulating collagen production over time, leading to a gradual and natural effect of restoring the underlying skin structure. Because of the large amount of diluent injected, appearance immediately after injection can predict outcome and appearance after the course of several treatments.

Any Special Concerns?

There is a <1% chance of nodule formation due to collagen formation. It is usually only palpable, not visible, which can be

treated if persistent.

Patients with a history of keloid or hypertrophic scar formation may not be candidates for this procedure.

Restylane/Perlane

Featuring a hyaluronic acid base, Restylane is approved for smoothing facial creases and adding volume to the lips. Lip treatments usually last around 6 months, while wrinkle treatments can last up to 12 months for some patient.

In addition to lip plumping, Restylane can be used in the following areas:

            • Laugh Lines – extend from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth
            • Marionette Lines – run from the corners of the mouth to the jawline
            • Lipstick Lines – vertical lines that appear just above the upper lip
            • Tear Trough Area – where those dark tired circles start to crop up

Frequently Asked Questions

What Are the Advantages of Restylane?

Restylane is a softer product compared to other HA’s, including Perlane. As such, it can have an advantage in tricky areas with lots of movement such as under eyes and the lips. This allows the practitioner to possibly better monitor swelling as

all HA’s attract water.

To get the most out of your Restylane injections, a treatment plan of follow-up injections is needed. For most facial enhancements, having subsequent injections every 4 to 9 months is highly recommended.

Belotero Balance

Although this dermal filler is also formulated with hyaluronic acid, it is unique in a way that it can adapt to various skin types and more superficial wrinkles. The formula molds to skin contours for subtle, natural results. Results typically last 6 months or more before a touch-up treatment is needed. Treatment areas include:

            • Smile Lines – run from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth
            • Marionette Lines – extend from the corners of the mouth to the jawline
            • Lipstick Lines – fine vertical lines that extend from the upper lip to the nose

Frequently Asked Questions

Is It Truly Different?

While still a HA, it does have variable cross-linking, making it a better choice for superficial lines and wrinkles similar to collagen products. There is less worry about lumps and bumps, as well as the Tyndall effect (a bluish discoloration) that can occur if other HA’s are placed too close to the epidermis.

One Disadvantage?

It does not come premixed with lidocaine, but it can be added. Additionally, topical anesthetic creams might be

suggested for anesthesia.

Dermal fillers offer natural and long-lasting results for men and women who want to turn back the clock on their appearance. The procedure takes just a few minutes to complete, and most patients are back to their work and regular activities immediately following treatment. Kybella

Kybella is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment that eliminates excess fat that causes the appearance of a

double chin.

Bellafill

JPO Aesthetics is proud to offer a minimally-invasive option for patients who want to look younger. Bellafill is a revolutionary soft-tissue filler that offers instant and long-lasting results. Its formula is designed to work with your body’s processes for results that are both natural and beautiful.

Dermapen

What Is Bellafill?

Bellafill is a soft-tissue filler that contains polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres. PMMA is a material used in medicine for many years so its safety has been well-documented. The tiny microspheres are not visible to the human eye, but are extremely efficient in providing support to the underlying skin structure that virtually smoothes away wrinkles from the inside out.

Bellafill also contains collagen, which offers results immediately after treatment. Microspheres remain after the initial collagen is absorbed, stimulating the body to produce more collagen for long-lasting results.

Collagen is the substance found in skin tissue that provides a smoother and more youthful look to the skin’s surface. Over time, our bodies produce less collagen, leading to thinning and sagging skin, as well as the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. By restoring collagen levels, you can achieve a younger-looking appearance.

Any Special Considerations?

The FDA does recommend physicians to do collagen skin testing as the product is bovine in origin. After placing the test dose on the forearm, most practitioners wait approximately 1 month to rule out outlying allergic reactions. Due to recent purification processes, the risk is less than 1% for possible reactions.

Who Can Take Bellafill Treatments?

Bellafill is an effective filler treatment for both men and women with nearly all skin types and tones. The amount injected into the treatment area can be customized to the unique needs of each patient.

People allergic to bovine collagen/lidocaine or those who have a history of thick scarring may not be able to use Bellafill. The formula is primarily used to address wrinkles caused by gravity and loss of volume such as nasolabial folds, smile lines, and marionette creases.

How Does It Work?

Bellafill is administered by injection using a fine needle that causes little discomfort. Lidocaine in the formula also adds to your comfort during and after the procedure. Most Bellafill treatments take about 30 to 45 minutes to complete, depending on the size of the treatment area and the number of syringes needed.

What Is Recovery Like?

The Bellafill treatment requires no recovery time. You may return to work and regular activities right away. However, in some cases, patients may experience mild redness or swelling around the injection areas, which will subside within a few hours after the procedure. There is rarely much discomfort during or after treatment.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect?

Initial results can be seen as soon as the procedure is finished. You will notice your skin is visibly smoother and facial creases are less obvious. Over time, your results will continue to improve as the formula stimulates your body’s own collagen production. Some patients find their Bellafill results last for many months, or even years, before any type of touch-up treatment is required.

Bellafill is a minimally-invasive and long-lasting way to achieve a more youthful look. The formula effectively restores facial volume while virtually eliminating the appearance of some wrinkles. The procedure is quick and nearly painless with no downtime involved.
